While attempting to purchase a premium membership, I found it rather difficult. I beleive there should be an easier way to go about completeing this task, and more then one admin should have the ability to upgrade members.
Not only have't I received an upgrade, but I'm wondering if my credit card, and other personal information is a sitting target for others....?
Again, while I do not mind giving my support to this sight, I beleive there should be an easier way to purchase a premium membership...
Cordially

Hello, I am agreeing here to an extent. I found it easy to purchase one but then I was not upgraded for at least a month afterwords.

I believe if you use paypal, either with an account, or with the credit card facility it should update immediately, if not speak to either admin and it will happen.

If you use Paypal or Google Checkout, your credit card information is handled by those external sites and we never see it. If you're going for instant gratification, Paypal is currently the way to go.

Then perhaps the info on the premium page should be revised. IT currently says that credit card payments should take affect instantly.

Post 7 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 03-Jul-2007 20:31:22

Chris is right. Only paypal does it instantly at this time. Google checkout takes like....um, I think 3 days to get everything through, check or money orders will probably take at the very least, a week.
As for maybe getting more than 1 admin to make the upgrades, that would be a very great idea. The only problem is, the payments go to the one admin at this time who does the upgrades, and as a result, the other admin can't make the upgrades without knowing the status of the payments.

Ather I was talking about paypal ones, which for a time didn't update streight away, though I'd known Chris be able to go and activate the updated membership.
Paypal is currently working as I updated mine tonight, and when I came back to the zone from paypal it had already changed the date.

should it take a month and a half?
lol!!!!

Post 10 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2007 12:51:51

I guess I was very lucky. I used google checkout, and, since I hadn't used checkout before I sent an email to admin stating that I had just submitted it and, if there were any problems to let me know.
Within five minutes I got an email saying my payment was received, and my status upgraded.

Didn't know how lucky I was. <lol>

I used Google Checkout as well when I wanted to extend my Premium membership, and today, I had it. It took just 5 days which is no big deal for me. I tried to set up a PayPal account myself, but failed miserably when it came to their stupid verification box which wouldn't accept any characters I typed in so I just thought "fuck it" and gave it up as a very bad job, so hands up to Google Checkout.

i never understood, what is a paypal account? how does it work? everyone looks at me strangely when i ask that...

Paypal account is an easy way for somebody to pay online without having to enter credit card information every time. paypal clames to have secure servers so in theory nobody can access the information you give them. So if a website can accept paypal payments what somebody has to do is just choose the paypal option, then they will be redirect to paypal, enter email address and paypal password and click on the pay button. People don't have to enter billing information all the time. Also with paypal it is easy to send money to other paypal friends etc. I am sure paypal has got much more features but this is the main one.

Last time I was on the paypal site I thought it was horrible. But, maybe that's just me.

or maybe that's me, because i keep not understanding... is paypal a card like a credit card or something like that, or just another more secure way to pay with your credit card? and what do you need to create an account? it confuses me...

Post 16 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Thursday, 06-Sep-2007 8:04:47

To create an account you need a credit or debit card to register with it. I think there is a paypal one but it hasn't got to be one of those. For me sometimes paypal is very usefull because i wouldn't be able to pay otherwise in some online shops especially american. My card type is swich which seams to be more common in europ but most website only support visa, mastercard and american express. But because they also accept paypal i was able to shop with them.

Post 19 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Friday, 07-Sep-2007 14:36:28

but how can i create a paypal account? the site is quite confusing for me...

Post 20 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 15-Oct-2007 14:49:27

I think the papal site is a bit confusing. I looked at it and didn't really know where to go from there. I could try the google checkout thing, though.

Post 21 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Wednesday, 24-Oct-2007 16:40:13

Google Checkout is currently disabled until we can automate it like we do for Paypal. You can also send a money order.

Post 22 by Simon (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 06-Nov-2007 21:38:22

is there an audio captcha on there, or just a stupid picture verification? If there's a pict verification there's no way for me to sign up. I'm currently extremely pissed off at all non-audio captcha sites, lol.

Post 23 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Tuesday, 06-Nov-2007 21:50:16

paypal has got audio or at list it had when i tried it. I imagine they still do.
